Why the upcoming new Maruti Suzuki Brezza could pose a serious threat to the 2022 Venue and Nexon

The sub-compact SUV segment continues to be one of the hottest spaces in the Indian market with a total of 8 different cars from different manufacturers currently available in this range. Moreover, one of the top-selling offerings in this segment was recently facelifted, i.e. Hyundai Venue, while another one is set to receive a generational update soon – the Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
The current first-gen Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been a segment leader for a majority of its lifespan. However, the introduction of more modern and feature-loaded rivals has resulted in a slight dip in popularity in recent times. Nonetheless, Maruti Suzuki aims to bring the Brezza back in the game with the new-gen model that is all set to be launched in the country on June 30.
The visual enhancements will include a new grille at the front, new and sleeker LED headlights with DRLs, more substantial body cladding on the sides, modern looking diamond-cut alloy wheels, new wraparound LED tail lights, and more. All these changes will make the SUV look fresh and more premium than before.
On the inside, the new Brezza will likely be equipped with a new floating infotainment system, a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, as well as a revised instrument cluster with a TFT MID display in the centre. The overall cabin layout is expected to be revamped.
Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed that the 2022 Brezza will come equipped with a factory-fitted electric sunroof, which will make it the first car from the company to be offered with this feature. Other new features could include connected car tech, up to 6 airbags, ESP, head-up display as well as a 360-degree camera.
The addition of these features will help the new-gen Brezza go neck and neck against feature-loaded rivals like the Tata Nexon as well as the recently launched 2022 Hyundai Venue. The equipment list has never been the current-gen Vitara Brezza’s USP, however, Maruti Suzuki still manages to sell around 10,000 units of the SUV each month. The inclusion of the aforementioned high-tech features could help the car achieve about 14,000 units a month.
Maruti Suzuki has commenced the bookings for the 2022 Brezza for a token amount of Rs 11,000. Stay tuned to TOI Auto for further updates on the new-gen Brezza as well as the price announcement on June 30.
