Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently revealed the pricing for its Urban Cruiser Hyryder hybrid SUV – the mid-size SUV that has been brought to the market to rival the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The Hyryder has actually become India’s most affordable strong-hybrid car, undercutting the Honda City hybrid.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is the longest SUV here, while the Kia Seltos is the widest and the tallest. Both the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta also have a 10 mm longer wheelbase as compared to the Toyota car.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is being offered with two different naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engines with hybrid tech. The NeoDrive variants are equipped with a Maruti-sourced 1.5-litre engine with mild-hybrid tech, rated at 102 PS/135 Nm. This engine is available with a 5-speed MT, as well as an optional 6-speed AT. The manual version can also be had with an all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration.
There is also a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with strong-hybrid tech that makes use of an AC synchronous motor. The total system output is rated at 116 PS, and power is fed to the front wheels through a single-speed e-CVT gearbox.

Meanwhile both the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos are offered with a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine putting out 115 PS and 144 Nm; a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit rated at 140 PS/244 Nm; and a 1.5-litre diesel motor that produces 115 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Both the Korean SUVs get a front-wheel drive setup as standard.
Price
Toyota has only revealed prices of the strong-hybrid variants of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, as well as the price of the top-end variant of the mild-hybrid version. The SUV is priced between Rs 15.11 lakh and Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the on-road (Delhi) price of the Toyota SUV ranges between Rs 17.46 lakh and Rs 21.91 lakh. Do note that the prices mild-hybrid variants of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder will undercut the current prices.

The Hyundai Creta’s ex-showroom price currently ranges from Rs 10.44 lakh to Rs 18.18 lakh, while the on-road (Delhi) price of the Hyundai SUV is between Rs 12.10 lakh and Rs 21.52 lakh. The Kia Seltos is currently priced from Rs 10.49 lakh to Rs 18.65 lakh (ex-showroom), while it’s on-road (Delhi) price ranges from Rs 12.16 lakh to Rs 22.07 lakh.
