Tiivra launches composite Fiber helmets at Rs 15,000: Why they cost this much

Mumbai-based startup Tiivra recently launched its range of composite fiber helmets at a price point of Rs 15,000 inclusive of taxes. These Made-in-India helmets weigh just 1,250 grams, making them one of the lightest helmets in the world, states Tiivra.
These helmets can be ordered through the official website or via some select rider-owned stores. There are six types of helmets – Xroads, Sabre, Razztazz, T1, Buzzy and Demon. The company makes two sizes per helmet, called Race fit and Street fit, with an extra smoked visor.
The start-up claims that all helmets are produced of glass and carbon fibers, offering high safety as compared to thermoplastic counterparts. These helmets have high visibility on the street or the highway and have a spoiler coated with StarBlaze and a gold coating by Nippon Paints, says the company.
The helmets come with DOT and ISI quality certifications. The company states that the helmets will also receive ECE 20.6 certification that is considered among the most stringent quality checks internationally. The company’s line of products also include jerseys and balaclavas.
The official statement says that Tiivra aims to take a shot at the $8 billion motorcycle helmet industry and have plans to introduce Kelvar fiber and Carbon fiber made helmets that will be priced competitively.
Tiivra is founded by Alpana Parida that aims to build an ecosystem around bikers – across categories, services and tech platforms.
“We set out two years ago with an audacious vision of building an extraordinary product and a strong brand in the biking space. We will always offer differentiated rider-centric solutions across products, services and technology. It has been a stubborn journey in a quest for quality and we intend to make the brand global as well,” says Alpana Parida, Founder and CEO, Tiivra.
