Tata Tiago EV India Unveil: Tata Tiago EV to become India’s most affordable electric car; Debut on Sep 28 |

On the occasion of the 2022 World EV Day earlier this month, Tata Motors had announced its plans to introduce a fully electric version of the Tiago compact hatchback. The Tata Tiago EV is all set to make its official debut on September 28.
Upon arrival, the new Tata EV will be positioned below the Tigor EV in the company’s electric line-up, which also means that it could very well go on to become the most affordable electric car in India. With the Mahindra e-Verito not available anymore, the Tigor EV is currently the most affordable four-wheeler EV in India, priced from Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 13.64 lakh (ex-showroom).
Nonetheless, the Tiago EV is expected to share its platform as well as powertrain with the Tigor EV. The electric sedan makes use of a 26 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack that powers its Permanent Magnet Synchronous motor. The electric motor produces 74.7 PS of max power and 170 Nm of peak torque, helping the car sprint from 0 to 60 kmph in 5.7 seconds.
It is yet to be seen if Tata decides to plonk a slightly smaller battery on the Tiago EV to keep the price in check. The Tigor EV has an ARAI-certified range of 306 km on a single full charge, and the upcoming Tiago EV could have a more or less similar range as well.
Talking about the styling, the Tiago EV is expected to retain the overall same design as the regular Tiago, albeit with a few changes to make it stand out. Just like the Tigor EV, the Tiago EV is also expected to get blue accents, both on the outside as well as inside, along with EV badging on the fenders and the tailgate.
