As per local officials, the team members that have arrived in Mumbai are Mercedes-Benz experts who will inspect the crash involved vehicle that is currently being held at the automaker’s facility in Thane. Palghar superintendent of police Balasaheb Patil said, “A team of three experts has landed in Mumbai from Hong Kong. They will start inspection work on Tuesday in the presence of police officers.”
Another official stated that the final report from the experts will be submitted to the police after a couple of days. The report will include all the finding s from the expert inspection and will be submitted to Mercedes-Benz as well. The GLC 220d 4-MATIC that Mistry was travelling in at the time of the accident has a 5-star Euro NACP safety rating. It features 7 airbags and an extensive suite of crash mitigation features such as advanced ABS, EBD and ESP.
A preliminary probe had earlier ascertained that Mistry and another passenger who were sitting at the rear were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
