Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has introduced a new limited edition variant of the Dio scooter, i.e. Dio SPORTS. The new model is available in two variants – Standard and Deluxe, priced at Rs 68,317 and Rs 73,317 respectively. In contrast, the regular Dio Standard costs Rs 67,817, while the regular Dio Deluxe is priced at Rs 71,317 (all prices, ex-showroom New Delhi).
For the extra premium, Honda has introduced two new dual-tone paint schemes that are exclusive to the SPORTS variant. The new colours are Strontium Silver Metallic with Black and Sports Red with Black. Apart from that, the Dio SPORTS also gets a red-coloured rear cushion spring, along with sporty-looking black alloy wheels.
No other changes have been made to the scooter whatsoever. It continues to be offered with a telescopic suspension, an external fuel lid, side stand indicator (with engine cut-off), a combi-brake system (CBS) with equalizer, 3-step adjustable rear suspension, LED headlamp, digital instrument cluster, along with a 3-Step Eco Indicator.
Powering the Dio is a 109.51 cc fan-cooled 4-stroke engine that produces 7.7 PS of power at 8,000 rpm, and 9 Nm of torque at 4,750 rpm. Braking duties are taken care of by 130 mm drum brakes on both ends. The scooter gets a 90/90-12 section tyre at the front, and a 90/100-10 unit at the back. The Honda Dio puts up against the TVS Jupiter, Hero Pleasure Plus, and its own sibling, Activa 6G in the Indian market.
