Over its 9-year career, the Honda Amaze has proven to be a contemporary sedan and has been widely accepted by the Indian audience. It is offered in a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC engines with the options for both manual and CVT automatic transmissions. However, What is interesting to see here is the massive shift in customer preference between the fuel types over the years.
The first-gen Amaze saw a dominating demand for the diesel variant at 67 percent with only 33 percent buyers going in for the petrol in 2013. In 2018, Honda launched the second-ten Amaze and reported a significant drop in diesel demand at 28 per cent, while petrol raced forward to 72 per cent.
This shift in preference is a stark contrast to 2013 in itself, but it is between April to August 2022, where Honda India has seen the most noteworthy demand towards its petrol Amaze with 97 percent buyers opting for it. The share of CVT automatics has also recorded a steady rise from just 9 percent in 2013 to over 30 percent currently.
